Fall Into Fun School Clean-Ups
MWS Back to School Green Space Maintenance
Sunday 8/20 between 9a.m.-12Noon
Sunday, join together Sunday with our community partners in the Mount Washington Preservation Trust (MWPT) to spruce up the bus stop and rain garden.
Focus on trimming and mulching in the school gardens and the lower building. Follow-up with transplanting.
The school grounds is a place of tiger pride and learning.
It is our kids' daily environment; let's get it ready for them.
Grounds Clean-ups and Maintenance are full of fun together.
When we get together to update the school grounds, our impact is so much more than making it look good. It is coming together to prepare our hearts and minds with our collective space.
Clean-ups are an important part of getting out kids and parents involved in being a part of our environment. We all want the places where we spend time to be a beneficial environment.
Our back to school clean-ups are opportunities for:
See Maintenance Plan for the clean-up- View our Green Tiger Champions!

Use outdoor spaces for education
The year is starting in a great space to learn physically. Our blacktop (area 7) allows for over 1,000 people. The Outdoor Classroom Amphitheater seats over 300 students with social distancing, and our Veggie Garden holds four 4'x12' planting rows allowing space for 10 agricultural learners. These plots are perfect for scholars to roll up their sleeves and create their own green studies. The blacktop itself is a great space for learning to ride a bike, skate, or practice physical activities outside.
The MWS rain garden has tiger loop; a mulched path to explore numerous native plants. We share a learning garden for peaceful learning and instruction. These public outdoor spaces are a place for our scholars to visit, explore, and learn in. We encourage families to take logical safety measures in any outdoor adventures. Exercise and learning go together, and safer outdoors than crowded indoor spaces. Please practice social distancing, wear a maks, wash your hands and be safe. See 15 resources to get kids outside! |
Fall Festival / Celebration HarvestWe will collect our summer harvest at the Fall Festival. We will collect /harvest then replanted for the fall. Seeing the seasonal cycle through plants helps our scholars connect time and life cycles in our world. We encourage families and pods to see this familiar cycle with us, or at another time. The space is available to share and learn together.
We plan to identify harvest and plant:

Spring PlantingWe continued planting with social distancing at Spring Beauty weekends, and independently. Augmented reality sign is up for the Veggie Garden.
