Youth SummittThe MAEOE Youth Summit brought green scholars throughout the state to share, collaborate, and inspire! We found four pavilions of hands on Environmental Education. Activities flowed throughout the whole area, and much congratulations were felt for our fellow Green Schools. The Youth Summit is a great capstone to a wonderful year, It will inspire us into the summer connections here at MWS.

Use outdoor spaces for education
The year is starting in a great space to learn physically. Our blacktop (area 7) allows for over 1,000 people. The Outdoor Classroom Amphitheater seats over 300 students with social distancing, and our Veggie Garden holds four 4'x12' planting rows allowing space for 10 agricultural learners. These plots are perfect for scholars to roll up their sleeves and create their own green studies. The blacktop itself is a great space for learning to ride a bike, skate, or practice physical activities outside.
The MWS rain garden has tiger loop; a mulched path to explore numerous native plants. We share a learning garden for peaceful learning and instruction. These public outdoor spaces are a place for our scholars to visit, explore, and learn in. We encourage families to take logical safety measures in any outdoor adventures. Exercise and learning go together, and safer outdoors than crowded indoor spaces. Please practice social distancing, wear a maks, wash your hands and be safe. See 15 resources to get kids outside! |
Celebration Harvest/Plant fall greensWe will collect our summer harvest. Saturday and Sunday we collected harvested and replanted for the fall. Seeing the seasonal cycle through plants helps our scholars connect time and life cycles in our world. We encourage families and pods to see this familiar cycle with us, or at another time. The space is available to share and learn together.
We plan to identify harvest and plant:

Green Connection
We have been through cyberspace to connect together and are inspired to connect in person and fantastic clubs this year. We shared some of the fun of connection while staying socially distant and safe.
In 2021 we will be continuing with Augmented reality, which offers many online opportunities to connect and share. Energy Captains Club (ECC) , and The Council of Green Leaders. Space will be limited so please send an email to reserve your spot today! More information is coming as school rolls out.
